TO REFRIGERATE OR NOT TO REFRIGERATE

Shortly after I moved into a new place, where I was sharing living space with the owner of the house, I decided to clean the refrigerator. After finishing with the cleaning, I found that I had several items of which I was not sure where they belonged. So I asked my housemate, "Would you like me to make my best guess as to where these belong, or would you like to take care of them yourself?" He told me to simply set them on the counter, which I did.

The next morning he walked by as I was working at my computer and asked, "Why would you leave those things from the refrigerator sitting out on the counter all night?"
