CALLING BACK
I called and left a message for a fellow that I had some business with. I had received his phone number from another person's e-mail which asked me to give him a call. He didn't return my call. It turned out that there was a good reason. The phone number that was given to me was incorrect. I thought, though, that it would have been nice if the recipient of my call had called me back and told me that I had reached a wrong number.
A few days later I received a phone call from a fellow who identified himself as John Banks. He wanted to know why I had tried to call him. Never having heard of such a fellow, I was puzzled as I tried to remember why I might have called such a person. When he finally made it clear that he was calling back, not because I had left a message for him, but only because his caller ID had identified my phone as having called him, I explained that there were several other people that lived in my house and that I did not know who had attempted to call him.
Moral of the story: If you want a person to call you back, don't leave a message!
