COURTEOUS DRIVER

Many of the drivers in Eugene are thoughtful and courteous (in spite of my previous little remark). The other day, for instance, I was driving down the street and needed to make a left-hand turn. When I got to the intersection I found that the driver coming from the other direction, who had stopped because the traffic ahead of him was not moving, had thoughtfully stopped back far enough to allow traffic coming from my direction to make the turn. Smiling thankfully for his thoughtfulness, I started to make the left-hand turn. It was at just that moment that the driver decided to pull forward, forcing me to slam on the brakes!
